I am writing this review as a physician who has visited numerous hospitals and healthcare facilities worldwide. Let’s start from the beginning. The place is truly amazing! The staff are professionals! Nursing is simply amazing—they take pride in the quality of work and delivery of patient care. I was very impressed from the moment I walked in the door. The greeter was extremely pleasant and welcoming! Everyone in this place, including the maintenance, cleaning, and housekeeping staff, is exceptional. You can eat off the floor of this place. Parking/landscaping was well-designed and simple to get around. Let’s focus on the “quality” of care. Physicians/surgeons are exceptional—but, again, they can only be exceptional with exceptional nursing/ancillary “backup.” Disregard the posted nonsensical complaints; they lack validity and legitimacy. A+

My neurologist sent me to get two units of blood, and when I arrived, the doctor said, “We are going to get you admitted and get your blood going.” The day before my discharge, they informed me that I would be under observation for the entire 7-day stay. For observation, Medicare pays less than for inpatient care. Every day, I underwent procedures for which we received bills. I have shed tears every day since learning about this. I’ve discovered that the hospital bears the duty of elucidating observations and inpatient procedures for the patient. A never-before-signed form is also required. I am going to file a grievance with the hospital. I will also be talking with my senator and representative. My husband and I, living on Social Security income, have struggled to pay for my doctor’s copays and medication copays. The nurses and dietary staff were excellent and considerate.

This first aid station is the most uncomfortable place I’ve ever been. I came in having a difficult time breathing and an open sore on the bottom of my foot. In summary, when I asked for pain medication, they recommended either Norco or another ineffective pill, even though I was already taking 2 mg of morphine every three hours. Given that morphine is more potent than Norco, this quack intends to administer it to me. It’s akin to aiming a BB gun at an elephant. It won’t do a damn thing. But this doctor that I have thinks she is God, and either you do what she says, or you will be discharged, still sick and hurting and unable to walk. Today is 2-28-2017, and I am confident that by tomorrow, 3-1-2017, in the morning, she will forcefully remove me from this place. tomorrow 3-1-2017.I’m in room 217 today. I must rate this hellhole a zero. Stay away from it unless you have a paper cut; then think about it real hard.

For a while, I had two relatives residing there, and they both performed exceptionally well, receiving more care than they would have at assisted living centers. Everything was clean, but I couldn’t find anyone to ask about some patients. Both patients rose from their beds, engaged in various activities, and appeared to improve, but their condition deteriorated after their release.

          Working for Iredell Memorial Hospital

I thoroughly enjoyed my time working in the Housekeeping Department, particularly interacting with the patients and wishing them a speedy recovery. However, my illness prevented me from continuing to work with them due to the overwhelming workload of cleaning the entire ER Department alone.

            Pros

They have excellent benefits, and the pay is good.

            Cons

I occasionally believe that the housekeeping department’s employees don’t receive enough attention.

We see patients ranging from infants to geriatrics; we are productive, strive for excellence, and have a wonderful time doing what we do best: patient care.

What is the best part of working at the company?

I am privileged to work with exceptional doctors who consistently exceed expectations in delivering top-notch service. My team of MOAs is also the best!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?

We need to obtain prior authorizations. This can be time-consuming. When you follow up on a prior authorization, you receive the runaround.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?

The key to our success in our clinic is excellent, outgoing communication. The culture is diverse and positive.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?

My provider sees up to 36 patients a day. Although the pace is fast, the provider treats each patient with patience and respect for their time. Our office is never dull.

              Poor management

The company puts people in leadership positions who lack the communication skills to be effective leaders and don’t speak to others with respect.

They will approve overtime for their favorites before others can even get 30 hours.

              Pros

We offer the best MA pay in the area.

              Cons

Toxic work environments lead to employee turnover, which also accounts for the highest pay in the area.

              Be cautious of yes-man supervisors.

The company will agree to a certain income at the interview, then pay less or hire you for a role that, a month later, requires the supervisor to act surprised in front of HR when they discover you aren’t fully qualified for some of the tasks, despite your consistent transparency and openness to training. The company then wants to drop your income by 50%, which would put you in a completely different bracket. I felt disheartened, as I was thoroughly enjoying the job and possessed comparable administrative healthcare expertise. My supervisor and I had discussed my continued education so that I could eventually perform the clinical aspects of the role. The supervisor no longer works with the company. In that department, there were times when we didn’t have lunch breaks.

              Pros

401(k), PTO, and those willing to cover you are available.

              Cons

              Sometimes no lunch

              Horrible communication

Communication with staff is poor. They have favorites, and let them do whatever they want. Abuse staff. They will relentlessly exhaust you until they no longer require your services.

              The staff is great.

Although the hospital’s staff is an exceptional team to work with, the administration lacks practicality, the benefits are mediocre, and the pay is not competitive in the current market. The hospital is currently experiencing chronic understaffing, a situation not unlike any other healthcare facility. If I were to relocate back to the state, I would return.
